Members of the UW campus community are invited to join the ECTL Assessment Team and University Assessment Coordinators in celebrating successes in assessment for student learning at UW.
Attendees will engage with colleagues to share ideas and informed practices in assessment for student learning.
There are many ways to engage in the Assessment Academy:

This presentation will discuss the journey the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology has taken while revamping their assessment program. Assessment goals, processes, culture, challenges, and implementation will be discussed along with reflection.
Assessment is often seen as a burden to many professors. But with a well-thought out, and well-organized assessment plan focused on departmental Learning Outcomes any department or program can contribute significantly to their students’ success. This success then translates into better retention, graduation rates, and recruitment opportunities.
It is difficult to do assessment when you don't think about it as being part of your job. This session will discuss how to be intentional about assessment and incorporate it into the job duties of those who participate in it. The session will also include information about assessing undergraduate and graduate programs.
Assessment for student learning invites instructors to inquire into student learning across an entire program. This presentation highlights the assessment journey of the Anthropology Program and Department to realize the need for a new program student learning outcome. And with this, the accompanying inquiry and work involving curriculum integration and innovative assessment measures. Please join us as we highlight the excellent assessment for student learning work happening in the Anthropology Department.
Curriculum maps will be incorporated into Program Assessment Reports for all graduate programs at UW on July 1, 2024. In collaboration with the Office of Academic Affairs, the ECTL is offering a workshop to help programs work through curriculum maps, looking at student learning outcomes (SLOs), courses offered, mapping student learning, and so on. Some programs will be better equipped to complete curriculum maps than others, thus this session will attempt to meet programs where they are in a workshop format where many templates for mapping will be utilized.
These workshops are intended for individuals responsible for program assessment and each workshop is the same.
Undergraduate Programs who wish to continue to develop program curriculum maps and those who need to submit a map in summer 2024 are also invited to attend.
We will engage with a recording of a NEean presentation. This session will focus on the presenter’s experience with ungrading in psychology courses over the past 2 years. After defining ungrading, the presenter will share how and why she implemented this practice, along with research on student perceptions of ungrading and lessons learned through this journey. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on and reimagine their relationship with grades and grading.
We want all friends of the ECTL to be comfortable and able to participate in our activities. If there is anything we can do to improve your participation in our events, please contact Christi Boggs at cboggs@uwyo.edu.
Please review the University of Wyoming Model Release Form prior to registering.
