SESSION INFORMATION:
March 4, 2024 | 10:00am to 11:00am MST
Via Zoom or in Coe Library 510F
This session will focus on the presenter’s experience with ungrading in psychology courses over the past 2 years. After defining ungrading, the presenter will share how and why she implemented this practice, along with research on student perceptions of ungrading and lessons learned through this journey. Participants will be encouraged to reflect on and reimagine their relationship with grades and grading.
Presented by Laurel A. McNall, Ph.D., a Professor in the Psychology Department at SUNY Brockport. Her research explores the application of psychological principles to the world of work, and she has published in the areas of work-life enrichment, organizational justice, and electronic performance monitoring. Her interest in high quality, innovative, and transformative experiences inside and outside the classroom resulted in a 2020 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. More recently, Dr. McNall started using alternative grading methods in her psychology courses and is leading an Ungrading Faculty Learning Community at SUNY Brockport.
We want all friends of the ECTL to be comfortable and able to participate in our activities. If there is anything we can do to improve your participation in our events, please contact Christi Boggs at cboggs@uwyo.edu.
