Geofacets Demo and Database Trial
UW Libraries has arranged trial access to Geofacets, a database that provides a map-based interface for searching geoscience publications for downloadable geologic maps, shape files, and tables that can subsequently be integrated into GIS, Google Earth, PowerPoint, and other software. Please join us on Tuesday, October 17th, for a demonstration of Geofacets. Elsevier representative, Josh Michaels, will show how Geofacets can help you find geologic maps and tables more quickly and efficiently, facilitate knowledge growth, and accelerate research. Originally developed to support oil and gas exploration, the product has been extended to support academic access to georeferenced geoscience information.
The trial starts Monday, October 16th, and will be available for at least 30 days. Faculty input as to the usability of Geofacets in teaching and research is important. After completing this trial and receiving your feedback, UW librarians will evaluate whether an investment in Geofacets makes sense for UW.
